Can I get on a connecting flight ?
Here is my dillema: I want to travel from Washington, DC to Greenville, SC. The tickets from DC to Greenville are like $300, but If I book them from Harrisburg, PA they are $100, but do connect from DC. My question is if I get a ticket, can I get the flight from DC and fly to Greenville,SC? If possible at all. Thanks to all of you that can help me. EDIT: To make it easier: PA -> DC -> SC $100 DC -> SC $300 Can I just skip the PA -> DC, and just get on the connection DC -> SC and still pay the $100 ticket?

It sounds like you can answer that yourself, if you need a better system check expedia.com, put in your cities and press enter they will give you alternate routes/airports on the left hand side, sorry i'd do it for you ..but it's too much cut and paste http://www.expedia.com Good luck

No, you won't be able to do that. When you give the gate agent your boarding pass on the first leg of your trip it checks you into the rest of the legs. If you do not board the first leg, your reservation will be canceled and your seat given to anyone who is flying standby or non-rev. If you want to take advantage of the lower fare, you will need to board the fight in PA.

If you do not show up in Harrisburg for the intial flight- the airline wioll cancel you from DC to Greeneville- I know it's crazy- I 've worked for the airlines for 8 years and have never figured out how it works. You must be flying thru a hub- are you flying US Airways or United? I guess if you book a ticket thru DC they just assume if you aren't making the first flight you are not making the second- shop around some more- maybe go from DC to Atlanta back to Greenville on Delta or Airtran- may be just as cheap- good luck!

Washington DC

The closest location to Atlanta would be Orlando (6-7 hour drive from Atlanta), followed by Washington DC (which is about a 9 hour drive), then Miami.
3 :
Know that closest doesn't necessarily mean cheapest, if that's why you're asking. Popular routes tend to have better deals.... (but the closest -- by a few hours -- is Orlando, FL)
4 :
Orlando is the closest at 7 hours driving time. Washington DC would be next at 10 hours. Open up Google Maps and take a look for yourself.

912 Tea Party March on Washington DC, on 9/12 2009
912 Tea Party March on Washington DC, on 9/12 2009?
A friend of mine and I aren't talking anymore since we don't view things the same. Well the way I see it he won't talk to me. I emailed him with a response to a nasty email .. 'would you still have negative things to say had Mccain gotten in office, because it seems no matter what everyone can't all be satisfied at the same time. Changes have to be made for other reasons we may not all know. I am sure every option in Washington is being considered. Obama is just human not a saint that will answer and satisfy every human being. And no matter who had won America was already in debt and on its way more whom ever gotten in office. Changes have to be made because what we've been doing hasn't worked in a long time. He sends me this: A friend of mine went to this and I really wanted to go but couldn't he wrote me about the experience... "What was it like?" Well, Susan and I got up at 4:00AM and drove to the Airport for a 7:25AM flight to DC. Imagine our surprise as we met six people on the shuttle from a satellite parking lot to the airport that were on the same flight as us and for the same reason. Even more astonishment as we met many others at the gate also going for the march. About 90% of the flight was going to the march and 30 more were on standby. Most of them could not get a seat. We arrived at DCA about 8:45AM and made our way to Metro which is the rapid transit system in Washington. We could barely get on the train!! By the second stop of 7 to the Federal Triangle station no more people could board and we were packed in to the rafters. The people of Georgia were the first in line as we registered more participants than any other state. We arrived at 9:20 AM and found our state flag only five minutes before the march began. Georgia had already been pushed 1 1/2 blocks down Pennsylvania Avenue from Freedom Plaza. (Start of March) Florida and Texas were close behind us and all 50 states were represented. As we made our way down Pennsylvania Avenue the dominant chant was "can you hear us now?" A direct question to government representatives. We entered the west central lawn of the Capital which rapidly filled. The north and south side lawns filled just as quickly. We were up close to the front and were being pushed against the fence as the overcrowding began. Capital Police closed the gates and started directing people to the mall area from the reflecting pool about 200 yards from the capital to the Washington Monument about 1 mile away. It took three hours for all participants to march down Pennsylvania Avenue and FILL the mall area. The crowd estimate from ABC News was announced at 1.5 million people!! We spoke with Capital Police who stated it was the largest crowd they had ever seen and estimated the crowd on the lawn(s), mall and sidewalks still attempting to enter the mall at 3 million. 450 buses lined Madison Avenue past the Washington Monument. Hundreds of thousands were already in Washington with tens of thousands more trying to drive in on gridlocked interstates (This was on Saturday!!). Tens of thousands more (including myself) had flown in from all over the country. The METRO system was completely overwhelmed and tens of thousands walked for miles just to get to Freedom Plaza and participate. After the singing of the National Anthem the roar was so loud I felt the reverberation through my body!!! After listening to many great speakers and being entertained with great songs, Susan and I left at 2:30 PM to make our way back through the sea of humanity. Security Guards were stationed at the top of the escalator descending to the loading platform in "All Metro Stations" to prevent injury of people coming down the escalator to an overcrowded loading platform. We arrived at the gate for boarding at 4:52PM for a 5:00PM departure. Remember it is only 7 stops from the Federal Triangle to Regan International. If folks staying in Washington and locals had not pushed us to the front of the line we would not have made our flight!!! (Thanks to all of them) I have many great photos of this event and will send some later. The message has been delivered to Washington that the majority of folks in this country are not just fighting a bad bill, "We Are Fighting Socialism". Later Nathan * Now how do you respond to this so called friend? I am really frustrated with him.

70,000? Are you that quick to let the LIBERALS spoonfeed you that horseshit? I saw one block that had more than that on it. Way more. As to the QA's question, respond with however you see fit, but I don't get what you're mad about. Are you mad he rubbed in going and you couldn't?

Well, for one thing, many of the pictures and videos being show on tv are from previous marches, not the 9/12 march. And this is known to be true because those pictures do not have buildings which have been in the sites shown since 2004. And others show cranes in front of the Smithsonian which were in place in the 1990s and haven't been there since. Now did your friends need to get government permission or show papers giving them the right to cross state lines? Were they prevented from assembling in the March in DC or voicing their opposition? Were they arrested or beaten by government security agents for carrying signs that were offensive to the President? What is their definition of Socialism? It seems that these people want to continue with the status quo and allow the insurance companies to dictate what sort of treatment the patients can or cannot receive. Let the insurance companies continue to deny people coverage because of preexisting conditions or when they don't want to pay for a medical procedure, find some stupid thing that they can claim that the patient 'lied' about and drop their coverage. Or loosing one's insurance when they lose their job. Then there's all the people who are currently uninsured. The taxpayer is the one who ends up paying for those people when they need emergency medical treatment. This bill is trying to rectify this matter. Yes, there may be some questionable things in it. But, this is were the Republicans in Congress should work together with the Democrats to debate and iron out those things. I have a life threatening preexisting condition that would not be covered if I had to change insurances. And I was told, by an insurance company that they determined I know longer have a back problem because of the payments they had made to my doctor. That was over 20 yrs ago and I have had to pay for my therapy out of pocket since just to be able to keep walking. I would love to be able to get on an insurance plan that would not penalize me because of that preexisting condition or the fact that my back problem was cutting into their profit margin.
