Question about Visa for Spain via Washington DC consulate

Question about Visa for Spain via Washington DC consulate?
I applied for my Visa for Spain July 16 at the Washington DC Spanish Consulate's office. I have my flight for Spain August 13, and I still do not have my Visa. I have called my state's senator and one of my state's House of Representatives and they preceded to call the consulate but they told them that I must call. I've called the consulate twice, one of them being today 8/3/09. They wouldn't tell me anything I can do to ensure that I receive it. Could anyone please help me with this situation? Thank you very much!

Once they have your passport & the application form there isn't a great deal you can do. Did you ask them what the maximum period to process a visa is? Did you ask them where in the process it was? Could they confirm that they had actually received your application & what they were doing with it? To be honest, if you've called the Consulate, there isn't a great deal more you can do. Are you sure you need a visa? Are you going to live & work there or just going on holiday? Are you a nationality that needs a visa just to go on holiday to Spain & will you be there more then 3 months?

Spain issues visa according to time submitted and also the urgency of the visa and the reason for visit. Your senator or representative have no influence in getting the visa issued, You must contact the Spanish Embassy in Washington to get this resolved. Spain is part of the Schengen Area, meaning they will have to check criminal databases in all member states before you're issued a visa. Here is the contact info for the consulate: Consulado General de España en Washington DC 2375 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W. Washington D.C. 20037 Tef. (202) 728-2330 Fax: (202) 728-2302 E-mail: cog.washington@maec.es Ask to speak to Consular Services/Visa Division.

I just got my visa in the mail yesterday from the Washington consulate. They took exactly 5 weeks to process my visa. Definitely call them today and tell them when you are supposed to leave. I was nervous about how long it would take when I was applying, and the woman told me that if it was cutting it too close, I could call and they would TRY to help get it processed faster. I'm hoping that the authorities will see that you listed August 13 as the date of departure so they will work quickly to get you your visa in time. I hope they can help you!

bumper to bumper

trust me, traffic is ALWAYS bumper to bumper in dc.

DC traffic can be unpredictable, especially during rush hour. Once you're on the toll road to Dulles you shouldn't have any problems, but I'd err on the side of caution and take the early shuttle just to be safe.
4 :
The Dulles Flyer rides in dedicated lanes (aka Dulles Airport Access Road) about 3 miles past the Metro Station. Unless those dedicated lanes or the stretch of VA 267 between the Station and those dedicated lanes are affected by an accident or other event, the trip does take 20-30 minutes. You will be at Dulles before 5 PM
5 :
The traffic would be better in hell. Take the earlier one, because it will definitely be longer than 30 minutes. You're headed outbound during afternoon rush hour.
6 :
Take either one - you'll have plenty of time. Using the Dulles Access road, it should take no more than 30 min. from West Falls Ch. The amount of traffic on the Dulles Toll Road won't matter - they're parallel but separate roadways. Besides, Monday is the lightest day of the week, on that road, at that time of day.
7 :
The traffic will be heavy but when the bus gets on the Dulles Airport road, it will go fast. The Dulles Airport road is dedicated to only airport traffic. If you get the 4:15 bus, you should be at the airport in no more than 1 hour and more likely around 45 minutes.
8 :
omg i feel so sorry for you its horrible
9 :
Well, you'll actually be traveling in Northern Virginia, and I-66 westbound during afternoon rush hours is no fun at all. Always best to take the earlier shuttle in the event of traffic problems. And since you are flying internationally, DEFINITELY take the earlier one because you don't know what fun and games TSA may have in store that day. You should take into account delays and heavy crowds at the *airports*, especially during December.

Connecting flights, customs/baggage help

Connecting flights, customs/baggage help?
Connecting flights, customs help? Hi there. This summer I will be traveling to Santander, Spain from Washington, DC. My flights are as follows: Washington DC to London on British Airways London to Madrid on British Airways Madrid to Santander on Iberia I'm wondering, when I enter the UK and Spain, do I need to go through customs, and do I need to do anything with my bags? Or can I just sit in the airport and get on my next flight without doing anything special? And also, when I start my journey in the USA can I tell them my final destination and let them take care of it, or do I need to claim and recheck my bags in London and Madrid before I actually get to my final destination? Thanks.

You will have to reclaim your luggage mid trip. Then recheck them immediately. You should check your luggage through to your destination, but you will still have to recheck your luggage.
2 :
You will have to do immigration and customs at Heathrow because British Airways flights from Washington arrive in terminal 5 and British Airways flights to Madrid depart from terminal 3 so you have to change terminals. Just make sure your connection time is sufficient to do this, you need at least 2 hours for your Heathrow connection. See this link for transfer between terminals information: http://www.heathrowairport.com/portal/page/Heathrow%5EGeneral%5EAirport+information%5ETravel+between+terminals/aedd3db5569a9110VgnVCM10000036821c0a____/448c6a4c7f1b0010VgnVCM200000357e120a____/#C Since British Airways and Iberia are partners when you check in with British Airways at Washington/Dulles they will check your bags all the way through to Santander. However, you will have to collect them at Heathrow to take thru customs then turn them back over to British Airways to be rechecked, since they are already tagged thru its just a matter of dropping them off at a luggage recheck area when you come out of the customs hall. You won't have much if any customs in Madrid because your arriving flight is from the UK and its an internal EU flight.
3 :
I agree with Lisa and have made the transfer in Madrid, never touching my luggage once it cleared customs at Heathrow because both the UK and Spain are EU Member countries. There is a British Airways luggage belt and kiosk where you will drop your bags immediately after you clear customs. They will also give you very good directions on getting to your next gate if this is your first visit to Heathrow.

What do I need to do for a flight connection

What do I need to do for a flight connection?
So I leave on Saturday for Washington DC, I'm leaving from Seattle @8:45am I arrive at Philadelphia @4:48pm for a connection then I leave Philadelphia at 5:45pm and get to DC around 7:07pm I have never done a flight connection before, this is my first time going to the east coast and I was wondering what I need to do for a connection. You should have plenty of time to make the connection. Just look for a information board when you get off the plane. Your flight to DC should be listed and it will tell you what gate you need to go to. Your luggage will be taken care of. Be sure to take all your carryons with you.
2 :
When you check in at the airport in Seattle, the agent will give you all of the boarding passes you will need. When you arrive in Philadelphia, you only need to go to the gate for your next flight with your boarding pass. Your luggage will automatically be transferred to your next flight. You should have enough time in Philadelphia to make your connecting flight. If you still are not sure, ask the agent when you check in at the airport in Seattle.
