You can fly to Binghamton, NY with United/Continental Airlines. The flight is about 90 minutes non-stop between WAS and BGM. http://411newyork.org/guide/2007/08/13/reserving-flights-to-new-york/ If you still want the bus, Greyhound goes to Binghamton, NY http://www.greyhound.com/en/locations/terminal.aspx?city=150205 Flight: 90 minutes (1.5 hours) at US$400.00+ Round Trip Bus: 540 minutes (9 hours) at US$145.00+ Round Trip

I have done this bus ride many times. It is a LONG bus ride. The shortest, cheapest, and most comfortable way to make the trip is to take the Peter Pan or Bonanza bus from New York City's Penn Station to Binghamton. It is still not a particularly comfortable ride and it will take you something on the order of three-and-a-half hours in normal traffic conditions, more during rush hour and less on weekends. Making the trip by bus from Washington, D.C., is insane. It is possible but I do NOT recommend it.

There's definitely a bus from Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC directly to Binghamton. Greyhound, Bonanza, Peter Pan are the bus lines. The trip is about 4 hours. The Port Authority Bus Terminal is at 8th Avenue and 40th Street in Manhattan. Book with one of the above-mentioned bus lines. Do not use cheap bus lines. You can get to the bus terminal from JFK by cab (expensive) or using the Air Train from JFK to the Long Island Railroad station in Jamaica, then transferring to the Long Island Railroad into Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan. From there, take a cab up 8th Avenue for about 10 blocks to the bus terminal. You can travel by bus from Washington to Bingo as well, but you'll have to change busses in Manhattan and the road trip from Washington to NYC is a total misery. At least 8 hours for the total trip end to end.

Hmmn. There are two bus lines from New York to Binghamton: Greyhound and Coach USA/ShortLine. (Megabus sells tickets for the Coach USA bus.) Bonanza does not go to Binghamton, and as far as I can remember never has. From Washington, you'd have to go to NY first, and change buses, so don't do that. The Short Line buses tend to be a little faster, but not hugely so. Schedules from NY to Binghamton are on the two web sites below. To get from JFK airport to the bus terminal, take the JFK Airtrain to the Jamaica station, and the E subway to the bus terminal stop. To get from EWR airport to the bus terminal, take the CoachUSA/Olympia bus that goes directly to the bus terminal. One other thought: if you haven't bought your plane tickets yet, see what the price would be for a ticket from wherever you're flying from to Binghamton, connecting at IAD (Washington.) It may well be only a little more than the ticket to IAD, and it's a lot less hassle than the bus.
