Very good airline with high quality service. They usually have quite interesting offers. Individual in flight entertainment (lots of films, music, games, etc) Note that they serve alcohol for free in all classes (from first to tourist or economy) During meals wine, beer and other good quality alcohols are free of charge as it would be expected in a high class airline like Qatar
2 :
I was on this airline once. The flight got delayed by 3 hours.
3 :
I flew from London to Doha with Qatar Airways last year and they are by far the best airline I've ever traveled with. Friendly service, free food and drink, fantastic range of entertainment and it was spacious and comfortable. Have a great flight.
4 :
Qatar is an excellent airline. They received 5 stars according to http://www.airlinequality.com. I think you will have a really good flight. Aircraft are really modern and service is great.

Has anyone used www.e-travel.ie to book flights before

Has anyone used www.e-travel.ie to book flights before?
I am booking flights to Washington DC from Dublin and this online travel agent is offering flights with British Airways that are very reasonable. I looked them up on BA's website myself and the price is triple that which the online travel agent is offering...too good to be true? If you have used e-travel.ie before and it worked out for you...I would love to hear from you guys! Thanks in advanced for your time!! :D

I've never used e-travel specifically, but I do work the airport- I can tell you the usual kicker with price differences Include factors like the number of connections and layovers. You may only have one connection, but the usual kicker is the layover is something crazy like 7 hours. Check that. Another reason is, you're flying in and out of the United States capital- People want to go in and out of there for business, tourism, etc. It will most likely be less is you travel out of a neighboring airport. Make sure also that one isn't showing you round trip and the other, one way: that could be a good hundred dollar difference. Put your dates into United Airlines website- they have a big hub in DC. You might save a bit trying that too

From Heathrow to Gatwick in 3 Hr

From Heathrow to Gatwick in 3 Hr?
Hello , please help me. I have a flight from Washington DC to Heathrow (Arraving Mon 6:20 am) then I have 3hr layover to hub on a plan to Budapest from Gatwick in London (Departing 9:30). I will be arriving at Heathrow T5,then i must go to N terminal at Gatwick. How long does it take to get out of Heathrow in Monday morning ? I Only have a carry on with me and i'm an American. Do I have enough time ?

have a look at the National Express coaches http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx ... there are coaches leaving Heathrow at 6:40, 6:45, 6:55, 7:05 etc taking about an hour to get to Gatwick ... so depending on how long it takes you to get out of Heathrow (which shouldn't be long if you only have carry-on) you ought to be at Gatwick by about 8:00 ... which is enough time to get checked in for your 9:30 flight
3 :
There are frequent National Express buses between Heathrow and Gatwick. The journey is supposed to take 70 minutes, but could take far longer during morning rush hour. Leave the terminal building and board the bus as quickly as possible www.nationalexpress.com/airport. Traffic congestion in and around south east England is a real problem which varies in intensity from day to day; factors such as weather and accidents make a great difference. If you're lucky you'll make it but I can't guarantee it. If you like a quiet life and can re-book on a flight leaving Gatwick 2 or 3 hours later, do so

From washinfton DC preferably BWI to london with unacompanied minors for a thirteen year old With a four-five hour lay over in Dublin preferably British airways i need to preboard the plane because i am visualy impaired how do i get this it could be from clevland also
Air Travel - 2 Answers

British Airways flies non-stop from Baltimore to London, so I do not see the point of stopping in Dublin. To book a flight for an unaccompanied minor, call British Airways. They will assist you. About pre-boarding, when the flight is getting ready to board, go to the gate agent and tell them that you would like pre-board, and they will give it to you (since you are visually impaired). No airline flies non-stop to Dublin from any Washington airport, so your layover won't be possible unless you stop in another city (like New York or Boston). If you need anything else, please email me! Good luck!

Travelling to/from Baltimore and Washington DC

Travelling to/from Baltimore and Washington DC?
I am looking to travel from Balitmore Int'l Airport on Feb 22, which is a Thursday, to Washington DC and back to Baltimore again on Feb 25, which is a Sunday. I will be landing at BWI at around 10 30 pm and hence will be looking to catch either a bus or a train to DC at around 11pm on Thursday evening. Then I need to get back to BWI from DC on Sunday at around 6 30 am to catch the 7 55 am flight. So what is the best way and the cheapest (safe) to travel to and from Baltimore and Washington DC? Looking to find out the time required and the fares. Taking a cab is somewhat too expensive for me. Thanks. How much would the cab fare from BWI to DC be?
Washington, D.C. - 2 Answers

Boy, you picked some dicey flights. There is a train station for BWI airport served by both MARC (local train system) and Amtrak. The Amtrak is much more expensive. Unfortunately you will be arriving after the last MARC train and MARC does not run on Sunday. If your plane arrives on time there is an Amtrak at about 11:45 and another about an hour later. That's it 'til the morn. For Sunday morning there are also 2 Amtrak trains from Washington that (if on time) will get you to BWI early enough. I have no idea about the busses but I suspect you may be arriving too late Thursday and leaving too early Sunday. If you can get your tickets changed without penalty to Reagan Airport you should.
2 :
Unfortunately the poster before me is right. There are trains that stop at the BWI airport and go to Union Station in D.C. but they don't run all that frequently. MARC (the commuter rail trains) run pretty infrequently and not at all on Sundays. Amtrak is a little more but they run more frequently. I think it's about $10-15 each way but it's cheaper than a taxi. There is ground transportation information at the airport's website www.bwiairport.com

Question about flying/airlines

Question about flying/airlines?
I booked a flight from Washington, DC to Seattle. I later booked a separate flight flying to Spokane from Seattle, which leaves one hour after my flight lands in Seattle (with a different airline). My question is- will I have enought time to get off the flight in Seattle, pick up my bags at baggage claim, check my bags onto my Spokane flight, and get on the plane, all in one hour? If not, what should I do?
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
If the walking distance between the 2 airlines' exits are close say within 5-10 min. walk and most importantly your plane of landing Seattle does not delay then you should able to make it. You should handcarry the baggage or else waiting for the luggage definitely takes more than an hour. If you must check in your baggage then you should change to a later flight.
2 :
Wow. That's pushin' it. All off this hinges on whether your DC to Seattle flight is on time, they get your baggage off quickly, and the gates are not on different ends of the airport. I would tend to have to day NO.
3 :
I think that is pretty tight because after you go through baggage claim to pick-up your luggage and then check it in again, you have to go through security. Also who knows how long you will wait in baggage claim just to get your luggage. I would say you should take the next flight to Spokane from Seattle.
4 :
its unlikely, airlines use a system called MCT Minimum Connection Time. obviously meaning the minimum time needed between flight landing and check in closing. My gut feeling is its too short, security will slow you down, of course there is no guarantee your bags wil be off first as well.. defintiely take hand luggage, and let the attendants know you are connecting, just before landing they will move you to the front of the plane, to get off first what airlines are you flying with? , although they are different, if they have an agreement such as KLM and Southwest, they will check you straight thru to spokane, so it s amatter of walking thru transfers i presume you are flying united from washington, check if they have an agreement with the other airline...

You'll need a boarding pass. I'd recommend bringing a book as well.
3 :
patience!!! no really i think you only need a liscense and the boarding pass right??
4 :
A driver's license or other state issued picture ID and your boarding pass. If you meant an international flight (traveling outside the U.S.) you will also need a passport. This is even true for Canada or Mexico whereas in the past you only needed a birth certificate. You no longer need your birth certificate. If you are under 18 it would still be good to have a driver's license or state ID you don't have to have one. If you don't have an ID I would contact the airline to verify.
5 :
for domestic travel, all you need is a valid ID, like a driver's license or an SSS card. If you have a passport, better. of course, i am assuming that you will have your tickets with you. once you have checked-in, they will issue you a boarding pass. if you are still a minor, a written consent from both your parents will be of great help. have a safe trip.
6 :
Here are the accepted forms of ID per the TSA. http://www.tsa.dhs.gov/travelers/airtravel/acceptable_documents.shtm If you are underage I don't believe you need to present ID, however, having some kind of ID is recommended. It is best to call your airline and inquire with them about what you should do. If you don't have a driver's license you may want to get a state ID card. This is issued by the dept of licensing (where you go to get your driver's license).

Day trip to Washington DC from NYC

Day trip to Washington DC from NYC?
Is it possible to make a day trip to washington DC form NYC? If I leave early from NYC by train? I am not talking about the commercial bus tours but doing it by ourselves. I wish to see White house, Capitol building and a couple of some major attractions, not much museums and stuff. I have an international flight ahead and I have 3 days in NYC. I want to squeeze in DC because I don't know if I get another chance to visit US. Thanks.

Yes you can make a day trip to DC from NYC. The trip from the Big Apple to the Nation's Capital take about 3.5 to 4 hours on Amtrak, depending on the train your taking. A one way ticket on the Northeast Regional will range between $72 and $103, while a one fare on the Acela Express, which is an high speed train, will range between $133 and $155. However, if you leave on an early train, you'll most likely take the Northeast Regional, which is cheaper. I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck Native New Yorker
2 :
Native gave you some good advice, which I'll add to-- If you take the 6:45 Amtrak Northeast Regional train from New York's Penn Station, you'll arrive at Washington Union Station at 10:10am--just a few minutes after most of the attractions open. Walk out the front entrance of Washington Union Station and you'll be facing the US Capitol. If you reserve a 10:45 tour via their website, you'll get an appreciation of the Capitol and the US Congress. From there you can walk down Capitol Hill towards the dozen-odd Smithsonian Museums, taking your pick. If the Smithsonian isn't your thing, visit the National Archives to see the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, or maybe stop in at the National Gallery of Art. When the museums close at 5:00, head back to Washington Union Station either by foot (if you still have the energy) or via the Metro subway, which has a station right underneath. Grab some dinner at one of the restaurants or eatery food stands, and get on Amtrak's 6:10 Northeast Regional train, which arrives back in New York at 9:25pm. A busy day, but it can easily be done. Here are some useful websites: Amtrak: http://www.amtrak.com Smithsonian: http://www.si.edu National Gallery of Art: http://www.nga.gov Washington Metro subway: http://www.wmata.com National Archives: http://www.archives.gov Capitol Visitors Center: http://www.visitthecapitol.gov/Visit/

A book, your ipod, IKD magazines!!!
2 :
iPod, bring a book, bring a puzzle magazine, drink some NyQuil when you take off, bring a video camera and film yourself, tell people "going to Bombay was the bomb!", tell the flight attendants you want a diet coke and a packet of sugar to make it taste right, tell the pilot the left side of the plane is going slower than the right, play "guess where my finger has been" with the person next to you, cry, pretend you are flying the plane, pretend you are afraid of clouds and scream every time you see one, make a paper airplane and throw it (repeat until you are hand cuffed), sip a cup of coffee and spit it out all over the seat in front of you while yelling "this isn't coffee! It's hot water with brown stuff in it!", giggle for no reason, stare at the person next to you, take off your pants and put them back on again, stand in the aisle and spin- then yell about how the plane is spinning out of control, try to hold hands with the person sitting next to you, pretend to talk to someone on your cell phone and tell them about being strip searched by the TSA- cry because they won that round of "where's the toothbrush", stand up and sing like Elf but sing "I'm on a plane and I'mm sinnnnginnnnggg!" and last but not least- go to the lavatory in the front, flush and run down the aisle to the back of the plane saying "I'm going to beat it this time!" That should keep you busy for a while.
3 :
I like to get movies on my iPod and watch them or bring a book. You could also bring a laptop or DVD player. One thing that really entertains me for some reason is just watching out the window. You could bring playing cards or something.

Unfortunately, there is no non stop flight between Washington, DC and Venice. I live not too far from Venice and have family in the northern Virginia area and fly this route fairly frequently. The fastest connection is on Lufthansa through Frankfurt which takes just under 10 hours. I did this a couple of weeks ago. You could also fly on Delta through Paris in about 10 hr 20 min total travel time. For several options the travel time is around 14 to 16 hours - this allows you not to be so rushed at your connection point here in Europe.

Anyone flown on aeroflot airlines from Washington DC (IAD) to Delhi (DEL)? How is the flight ? Safe and confortable. How is the Moscow airport. Is it safe? Is it safe for a women and an infant
Air Travel - 3 Answers

Personally, I would choose another airline if you have an option. I am in the travel business and i know that aeroflot is one of the worst airlines going. They are not as bad as they were under communism. Back then their planes were dropping out of the sky every month. But today they are safe, but the service stinks. Moscow airport is safe and fine. But customs is a disorganized nightmare.
2 :
In my opinion..Its not a good option especially for a women and infant i think your better off flying through LHR/FRA/CDG/DOH from IAD these are good connection airports and the airlines(British Airways/Lufthansa/Air France/Qatar AIrways) are also very good in overall terms..these airlines will also get you to Delhi Read the reviews on this website: http://www.mouthshut.com/product-reviews/Aeroflot-925005297.html
3 :
I wouldn't recommend it as you have to wait in a weird place and then again its a foreign country, I have flown First on AeroFlot and did not enjoy it, so if you're traveling on economy I couldn't imagine how that would be. I highly suggest you fly on another airline. Be sure not to stop in foreign countries or if you have no other option try stopping in London, Amsterdam, Switzerland, Frankfurt, and such airports.

Yeah Washington Dulles Airport, VA.Its all the same place.
2 :
IAD = International Airport Dulles...answer is yes. One and the same. It's about 30 miles outside of Washington DC.
3 :
The official name of the airport is Washington Dulles,. but it is about 30 miles outside of the heart of the city in the state of Virginia. Dulles is not in an incorporated area, so you might also see businesses in the vicinity of the airport using place names of Herndon, Sterling or Ashburn.
4 :
YES, you are fine as there are 3 airports serving the DC Metro area: DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (IAD) is on western suburb at edge of Fairfax and Loudoun County and only has expensive bus & taxi service....so rental car is FINE but please make sure you observe the signs bec some of the main thoroughfares along I-66 going in/out of Washingon are HOV RESTRICTED during certain times. The main or most centrally located airport is called RONALD REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT (DCA) on the Washington METRORAIL Blue & Yellow lines. BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON AIRPORT (BWI) is 3rd aitport located off Baltimore-Washington Parkway and has train service... Enjoy Your Stay and FYI the CHERRY BLOSSOMS at the Tidal Basin will soon be blooming!
5 :
There are 2 main airports in the Washington, DC, area. DCA = Reagan National Airport. It's in Virginia, between Arlington and Alexandria and is about 4 miles from Washington, DC. IAD = Dulles International Airport. It's in Virginia, about 30 miles west of Washington, DC. Your rental car is at the correct airport.
6 :
yup. the airport is called washington dulles international airport (IAD) and it is actually located in Virginia. but it is only a half hour - 45 min. drive to Washingtin dc
7 :
Oh yes. Dulles Airport is the main airport and international hub for Washington, DC. It's in Loudoun County, VA which is an outer suburb of Washington. You got a 24 mile drive East to Washington. By 2015 Dulles should have a metro station.
8 :
Dulles airport (IAD) serves the Washington DC area, but is in Virginia. It is about thirty miles out of downtown. So you are fine, you should be able to fly into Dulles Airport and pick up your rental.

Flying and want to take my Keyboard with me

Flying and want to take my Keyboard with me?
I'm flying on a small trip for Spring Break and I want to take my keyboard with me. It is a full-size (88 key) instrument, about 5' by 18" by 6". Is there any way I can fly it with me without paying a ridiculous handling charge? (no more than about $50). I'm taking a 2-hour flight from Dulles (Washington DC) to Nashville, TN. How can I make it so the keyboard comes with me?

Ha, I work at Dulles. Yes you can bring it as long as you put it in a checked baggage. If you want to take it as a carry on you may have to pay a fee of about 50.00 depending on what the size is. Have fun, I might be the one boarding you!!
2 :
a keyboard isn't that big, just put it in your carry-on baggage along with whatever else is going with it. You can pack it on top of clothes in a suitcase if you don't need it on the plane.
3 :
well if you're flying and want to take you keyboard with you so badly, just pay the $50, compared to the air ticket fee its not that much. and i think that anyway around it might be illegal...unless you can count it as a carry-on
4 :
The only thing I can think of is to call the airline you are flying and see if there is anything they can do to acommodate you. Maybe they would be willing to tag it and put it up where the stewardesses luggage, etc. You more than likely though will have to pay the $50 for the extra weight/luggage. That is a lot of space that will be taken up. Good luck!!
5 :
A) Definitely call the airline. B) You won't be able to take it as a carry-on - It's too big. C) Definitely place it in a hard-shell flight case.
6 :
Unfortunately, several folks who have answered you are very wrong. A full size, 88-key keyboard is by no means going to be allowed as a carry-on (nor would any bag that it would fit in). Your best (and safest) bet is to check it with your other luggage. The bad news is that unless you don't really care much about it, you MUST have a hard shell (preferably ATA) case for it. Between the size and the weight of the case/keyboard combo be prepared to pay $75-$100 for excess size and weight fees. Most airlines will charge you for BOTH overweight and oversize together. You can take your chances with checking it in a soft bag, but I strongly advise against it.

Right i would go to moneysupermarket.com because you get to compare prices with which is the best flight and which is cheapest and also which one suits you

I recommend this airline: http://www.virginamerica.com/va/home.do They don't charge fee for luggage, the staff is really cool with u aboard the plane, delicious food and confortable seats...You can find one way around $170 right away but prices tend to go down suddenly; so the key thing with this airline is keep tracking prices daily and catch! the deal when prices down....
4 :
I have made this trip many times and one thing I can tell you is that you will find cheaper flights flying out of Dulles or BWI than going through National airport. Another thing to do is to search on Kayak engine. It will return all flights from Dulles or BWI and give you a price comparison. http://www.socalthemeparks.com/cheap-flights.html This method is good because you can check over 120 airlines with a single click.
5 :
Try Air Tran airlines @ http://airtran.com, or try spirit airlines @ http://www.spiritair.com. I have flown on both airlines from the East to West coast and I find both airlines fares to be the cheapest out of any other!
6 :
Fly Jet Blue, you can probably do one way for around $200-$250? Fares are so expensive now. If not Jet Blue, then try Sidestep.com for cheap tickets. Good luck on your trip!! I'm a native Washingtonian and moved to LA seven years ago.... LA is a great place to live, but i miss DC!!

Anyone flown on aeroflot airlines from Washington DC (IAD) to Delhi (DEL)?
Anyone flown on aeroflot airlines from Washington DC (IAD) to Delhi (DEL)? How is the flight ? Safe and confortable. How is the Moscow airport. Is it safe? Is it safe for a women and an infant

How early should I get to the airport for my 5:55pm flight

How early should I get to the airport for my 5:55pm flight?
I am taking a 5:55pm flight on JetBlue from Dulles in Washington, DC to Oakland in California. I will not be checking any bags. I will be taking a carry-on and a "personal item" (backpack). I will be checking in online prior to going to the airport. What time should I arrive at the airport to ensure I make my flight? I was thinking 4pm (2 hours early) would be good. What do you think? Thanks!

I would just get there at least one hour early
2 :
yes 2 hours is the recommended time for national flights
3 :
depending on the rules in the airport, 2 hours it is in chicago or they wont let you on the plane for some reason. also like that in ft. lauderdale.
4 :
yeah, thats a good time... they say you should be at least 3-4 hours early for an international flight, so i think you're good with time. if anything, you'll have time to kill before they board, but looking on the bright side, you definately won't be rushed.. perhaps bring a book/magazine just incase?
5 :
No checked bags??? Just check-in online on the Jetblue website and print your boarding pass from your printer up to 24 hours before the flight and until say 2 hours before your flight. Then, your only concern becomes security. Because 6pm can be crowded (assuming this is a weekday), I would suggest you get at the airport around an hour before your flight.
6 :
2 hours is more than enough time, you will be fine... have a good flight, jet blue is the best airline i have ever flown, nice seats, lots of legroom, personal tv's dunkin donuts coffee, and lots of great snacks to choose from. have a good trip.

Cheapest way to get from Washington Dc airport (IAD) to Shenandoah University in Whinchester, Va

Cheapest way to get from Washington Dc airport (IAD) to Shenandoah University in Whinchester, Va?
My brother has an interview at Shenandoah University in Whinchester, Va. He is 21 years old. I priced out a rental car for a day and it was over $75! Plus I am worried that him being 21, he isn't old enough to rent without fee's attached. Is there any kind of public transportation that he could take and what are the time schedules? Also any cheap cheap hotels in the area would be great! He would be arriving on Sept 23rd and his interview is at 2:30 - 3:00 pm on Sept 24th and then would need to go back to the Washington DC airport and catch his flight to Las Vegas that night (Sept 24) Help me find the best deal thats affordable. He's a poor college student!

I just did some Internet searching on your question and couldn't find anything. There is limited bus service from Winchester into Washington, DC and Arlington, Virginia, but I couldn't find anything to Dulles. Your best bet is to contact the university directly and ask. If there is such transportation available, they will know.
2 :
you can get rental cars cheaper than that... there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
3 :
Sorry to tell you this, but Winchester Virginia about 2 hours northwest of Washington, DC. There is no public transportation. He'll have to rent a car. There just is no other option. Dulles Airport is out in the country, but at least it's in Virginia. He'll have to get over to I-81 and go north toward Winchester. It will take quite a while and he's going to be one beat puppy when he finishes. There are lots of cheap hotels in the Winchester area. I'd recommend a Days Inn. Winchester is a college town and they understand student's schedules. Days Inn is about the cheapest place there is. By the way, Shenandoah is a great school. I've known quite a few kids who went there and loved it, including family members. They also did very well after graduation. Good luck to your brother.
4 :
Have you looked at SuperShuttle? They will pick him up at the airport take him out to SU and can pick him up and take him back to the airport. http://www.supershuttle.com/default.aspx?content=SummerLift&GC=RIDES&SID=RIDES You can also try to find a lift on craigslist. Alternatively, he can try renting a car, but it is not only just expensive just to rent, but he will have to pay extra because he is under 25. Someone said that Winchester is like 2 hours from DC, it should be noted it's only 70 miles, but depending on the route he takes by car it could be 2 hours. However if he is flying into Dulles, it's like 50 miles instead. I would also recommend contacting the University, they probably have lots of people who come in from elsewhere and have had the question before.
5 :
Car rental Budget- 65 for one day, plus underage driver charge. Not sure what that is since its not on the website. Avis- 136.66 plus underage driver charge, not listed on the website Enterprise- 147.12 including underage driver charge.
6 :
Bella has the best answer. The Super Shuttle will be his best bet. Also, Winchester is only a 45 minute drive. I know because I live right across the highway from Dulles and drive to the the Winchester Sonic Drive In occasionally. Therefore, the Super Shuttle pick up at the airport shouldn't take more than an hour to get to Shenandoah U. http://www.supershuttle.com/ By the way, there are car services that nearly as reasonable as the shuttle.

I am taking a plane from Washington dc to London England at night is there going to be rough air

I am taking a plane from Washington dc to London England at night is there going to be rough air?
What I mean is that in a few days I am going to be traveling and I would like to know whether there will be any kind of turbulance during my flight back to london at night? I get really nervous when turbualnce accurs because I feel like the plane is about to crash or go down unexpectedly! please can anyone advise and tell me what to expect?
Air Travel - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
night is usually the calmest.
2 :
Having a rough flight depends on the weather conditions. The captain will announce weather conditions along the flight, and weather or not to expect turbulence. Have a great trip!
3 :
There is no way to forecast any sort of turbulence. Sophisticated on board weather radars can tell the crew where bad weather is and they'll try to avoid these conditions for passenger comfort. Turbulence IS SAFE!! Think of it as bumps on the water. Planes are built to sustain severe weather conditions and turbulence cannot damage an aircraft, just make it uncomfortable for everyone on board.
4 :
No matter where or when you fly there is always a chance for turbulance on a flight. It is entirely normal, so don't worry about it.
5 :
I would not be surprised if there is a little bit since the flight is quite long. Also it depends on the weather the night you fly out as well. It is hard for us to forecast whether or not you will experience any turbulence. There is a thing called clear air turbulence as well where the weather is clear and the aircraft drops. The best thing to do is to keep your seat belt fastend throughout the flight as sometimes turbulence cannot be predicted.

What time should we leave to get to the airport

What time should we leave to get to the airport?
We have a flight going to Washington DC at 11 am...and it takes an hour or so to get to the airport, so what time should we get there?? WE have flown lots of times before but we were never sure, and we would either get there too late or too early!! lol so what time should we leave the house?
Air Travel - 9 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You should plan on walking into the airport at 9:00 AM. Extrapolate your driving and parking time from that. It's always better to be too early.
2 :
if it's an international flight at least 2 hours before. (9 am)domestic...well at that time of day I'd still get there about 9 or 9:30. That is a busy travel time and security lines could back up and take a while. You don't want to be standing in security when your flight leaves that could be pretty bad.
3 :
8:30am
4 :
You should be there at least 1 1/2- 2 hrs before the flight. If you dont have your ticket in hand usually 45mins before the flight boards (usually 30mins before it takes off) they can deny you a ticket. At the very latest assuming it only takes 1 hr to get there you need to leave the house by 830am
5 :
Leave the house in time to get to the airport an hour and a half or two hours before your flight leaves. Better to get there too early than too late.
6 :
You should get to the airport at 9AM, so leave the house at 8AM. You did not say which airport you were leaving from, and some airports need more time than others. Also, you will be in rush hour traffic on the way to the airport. Maybe you should leave the house at 6AM and have breakfast at or near the airport. Better to be early than late. Regards, Dan
7 :
Be there 2 hours B4!
8 :
It is always best to arrive at least 2 hours before your flight departs! In your case I would arrive at the airport at about 9:00 a.m. You need time to check-in, check in any luggage and carry-ons, get through security, and time to get to your gate! Happy Travels!
9 :
I'd suggest leaving your house no later than 8 AM (earlier if you live in a big city with lots of traffic), so that will put you at the airport at around 9 AM - that gives you about an hour and a half to check in, get through security, and locate your gate before you board the plane. If this is a large airport, I'd leave at 7, maybe earlier - there are usually more travelers in the summer, especially at larger airports, which means checking in and getting through security could take longer than usual. http://www.fly.faa.gov/flyfaa/usmap.jsp You can look up the airport that you're flying out of, and if there are long security lines or delays, you'll know about them before you leave and can adjust what time you need to be there by. I hope this helps, and remember - it's better to be too early than too late.

How to manage Washington DC to JFK travel

How to manage Washington DC to JFK travel?
I (with my wife) will be travelling by Greyhound/Peterpan/ Chinatown buses from New York to Washington DC and then back to NY after a week. I want to avoid hotel on the way back as my flight out of NY is in evening. Is it possible to travel this way and then how to reach JFK from Manhattan? Some luggage (3-4 bags) also will be there. Seems a cab is best option.
New York City - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You certainly could take a cab. The flat fare from Manhattan to JFK is $45.00. You could also take an airport bus that runs from the Port Authority (the Bus Terminal) or Grand Central Station area (41st St & Park Avenue). The cost, I believe is $15.00 (each). You purchase the tickets there & they take all luggage. Here is a link that will give you all the information that you need. Enjoy your trip! http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/jgtsfram.htm
2 :
ANY NATIVE NEW YORKER WILL TELL YOU TAXI CAN BE ABOUT $30 BUT IF YOUR NOT SCARED TAKE THE TRAIN FROM 42ND STREET TAKE THE EOR F TRAIN TO QUEENS OR THE JFK STRAIGHT TO AIRPORT!!
3 :
A cab would be the most direct way to go. You could also take the E, J, or Z subway, or the LIRR (better option) to Jamaica and transfer to the AirTrain. This would be cheaper, and definitely more interesting than taking a cab.

how long takes form Baltimore to Washington DC

how long takes form Baltimore to Washington DC?
Im going to Russian Embassy in Washington DC, here is address 2641 Tunlaw Rd., NW Washington, DC 20007. So im looking at flights right now, ill save like 200$ if ill fly to Baltimore, so im really wanna know how long it will take me to get there form airport and how much it will cost? please help meeeeeeee
Washington, D.C. - 3 Answers

According to Google Maps, the Baltimore Washington International Airport is about an hour from the embassy by car. The BWI airport website has a list of various transportation options http://www.bwiairport.com/en/travel/ground-transportation. Taking a shuttle is usually a pretty cheap option.
2 :
The cheapest way to get from BWI airport to D.C. is on the MARC train. Take the shuttle bus from the airport to the train station, it's free. Get on the Penn Line to Union Station. The train to D.C. is $6. You can get a taxi from Union Station to the embassy. That should cost less than $25, depending on baggage and tip. It should take less than 2 hours total including wait time for buses, trains and taxi.
3 :
The most efficient way to travel from BWI to Washington, DC, is by train. Amtrak is having a special right now and prices range between $6 and $11 each way. MARC train is another option, but doesn't make the trip on the weekends on in the evenings. It is strictly a commuter train. The trip from BWI to D.C. takes about 40 minutes, give or take. The train goes to Union Station in Washington. From there you can catch a bus or take a cab to the Russian Embassy. It is a gorgeous building, by the way. You'll enjoy your visit, I'm sure.

Should I try to make him mine

Should I try to make him mine?
i went on a school field trip to Washington DC and that is when my feelings started. A summary of me and him on the trip is The plane ride there we were not able to pick our seats, but we had a 2 hour bus ride to the hotel. On the bus ride i sat 2 seats away from him. during the week, we flirted ALOT. i would always take his hat.when ever we ate diner or lunch, i stayed with him and his friend. on the last night, we were all outside and it was COLD. i was really cold, so he gave me his jacket. he wanted it back, but i still kept it. he had to tickle me for his jacket back. while walking to the bus i was really cold and he offered to give me a hug. we hugged for like 2 minutes. on the plane ride back i sat next to him. on the last 2 hours of the flight i fell asleep on his shoulder. i was so tired that when we had to get out bags off the baggage wheel thing, he got mine. We are in the same grade (9th) and my friends have told be he does like me but i don't know because he does have a girlfriend who is a grade younger. i dont know her, one bit. I want to what should i do?

What is the cheapest form of transportation from Richmond, VA to Washington, DC

What is the cheapest form of transportation from Richmond, VA to Washington, DC?
I have a client that will be in Richmond for the morning but needs to catch a flight from DCA at 11am. (If you think AMTRAK is best -- how's their on time preformance?)
Other - United States - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :

This is pretty much impossible. Richmond to DCA is at least an hour and a half - this person needs to leave Richmond by 8 AM to make the flight reliably. I cannot imagine a morning meeting that will end before 8 AM. To answer your question a little more directly, the cheapest form of transporation between Richmond and Washington is Greyhound Bus - my daughter went to college in Richmond and often came back that way. The cost is 21.75. There are two morning busses, one leaves at 5:15 AM and arrives at 7:30 AM, and one that leaves Richmond at 7:30 AM and arrives at 9:40 AM. The last one is possible and gets you there just in time for transfer to the flight. One would transfer to the Metro Blue Line at Franconia Springfield, to National Airport, which is a fairly short subway ride. The next option is, as you guessed, Amtrak. These tickets are $26 to 44 for a one way, depending on what trip. There is a 6 AM train arriving at 8:06 AM, and an 8AM train arriving at 10:06. Unfortunately the latter is pretty much impossible, as you then have to get on the subway to get to National Airport, so add an additional 20 to 30 minutes to the trip, and you have missed the flight. (They will close an 11:00 flight at 10:30). There are no more delay issues with Amtrak than with airplanes (less in fact) but it's always a possibility. Renting a car might be the only way to do this. With Avis this would cost about $47. It's not a very complex drive, but the traffic can be terrible. I've known it to take up to 3 hours to drive this way, but that was usually during the rush to the beach on Friday evening or Saturday morning. Coming toward DC later in the morning might be much easier. Still allow for 2 hours to drive - and remember to be at the airport by 10 AM to check the car in and get it done. So the client needs to leave at 8 AM. Richmond is not really near DC. Why does the client not change his/her reservations to fly out of Richmond's airport?

Yes you can. You can purchase a small one at the airport or you can take yours. If you want to keep it clean, I recommend you use a double cover because you will have to put your pillow on the hard plastic box to pass it by the xray on the check point.

How do you travel to Labrador City, Canada from Washington,DC?
I know there's tons of ways but I need the fastest or most affordable. I want to take my mother there for her birthday which is November. It's a cool place and it's a different place from what my friend tells me so I wish to know the steps besides taking a flight to Quebec or Toronto.

You could fly to St. John's, NL and then to Lab City from there.
3 :
It is not simple to travel to Labrador City by driving as the previous poster suggested. And there aren't tons of ways to get to Labrador City. Most of them are somewhat expensive - there is no easy and inexpensive route. The fastest route is definitely to fly. To drive to Labrador City from Washington DC is certanly doable, but will take several days because there are ferry crossings and dirt roads to consider. One way certainly is to drive. No matter which route you use if you drive, you will have to drive hundreds of miles over unpaved and desolate roads, with few or no services. If you drive you may want to cross the border in Quebec and head to Baie Comeau, which is where you pick up the road that heads into the interior of Labrador, and will take you to Labrador City. The drive from Baie Comeau will take several hours, most of a day, and is almost all dirt road. What you have to watch out for on that road is the big trucks which will leave you in a cloud of dust for several seconds after you pass them. Your speed on that road will be mostly around 60 to 70 kilometres per hour - about 45 mph. Depending on the time of year, the road may be quite rough, and there will be a lot of gravel on it. Another route is to cross the border at Calais/St. Stephen, drive across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, take the car ferry from North Sydney to Newfoundland, drive from Port aux Basques to St. Barbe on the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland (several hours of driving - paved road), take the car ferry across from St. Barbe to Blanc Sablon in Labrador (about an hour or so), drive from Blanc Sablon to Cartwright (several hours on mostly unpaved roads - lots of stones and gravel, but a fairly good dirt road), take another car ferry from Cartwright to Goose Bay (about 36 hours on the ferry), and then drive several more hours on another dirt road from Goose Bay to Labrador City. This route will take more time than the Quebec route. Alternatively you can fly to Labrador City (the airport is called Wabush, not Labrador City). Several airlines have daily, or almost daily flights - Air Canada, Provincial Airlines, and Air Labrador. Generally people fly to Labrador City from Montreal, St. John's or Halifax. Your best route would probably be to fly to Toronto from Washington, and book flights to Labrador City from Toronto, which will take you through either Montreal or Quebec City. These flights tend to be expensive, and there aren't usually any seat sales or special deals. However, the cost of driving will most likely be almost as much as flying, when you consider your time, the wear and tear on your vehicle (rental companies will not rent you a vehicle to drive into Labrador because of the dirt roads), hotels, etc. Here is the mapquest link that describes the route through Quebec, which is the most sensible route to use if driving. Flying will be much faster, and probably not much more expensive.
4 :
I'm just curious why you're interested in going to Lab City from Washington. Lab City isn't much in the way of a tourist destination. Almost exclusively a mining town, with some ancillary services to mining ... anyway, I'm glad to know people from outside of Newfoundland actually visit the place. The nature outside of the town is astounding. Untouched wilderness for hundreds of miles around; Lab City really is in the middle of nowhere. Not counting a couple of small towns, you're about two hundred miles from the next sizable town, and right in the middle of the vast wilderness that comprises the Labrador peninsula. Anyway, the advice from Imaka is the best advice here. There is only one way to drive into Lab City from the rest of Canada, and that's Quebec provincial highway 389 north from Sept-Iles. It's long (VERY LONG), it's narrow, poorly-maintained, there are few populated villages along the road, and it's very potholed and twisty. The joke goes that you'll round some turns and see your own taillights. Flying into Wabush airport is the cheapest way, because driving will incur heavy, heavy fuel costs. Gas is more expensive in Canada, particularly so in rural semi-northern Quebec and in Labrador. I believe the current price in Labrador is in the $1.40/litre (or roughly 6 dollars per gallon) range. The airport is in the neighbouring city of Wabush (the "twin cities" of Labrador City/Wabush collectively form one city area, but are separate municipalities. Lab City is home to about 8000 people, Wabush to about 2000), and it's an easy trip to LC. There are regular flights from St. John's, Montreal and Quebec City. Your best bet is probably Washington-Montreal-Wabush. It'll be significantly faster, safer and more convenient, but for the two of you might be be cheaper to drive. But probably not by much ... Anyway. Best of luck and enjoy your trip!

I see occasional $189 round trips on American to BWI (you take a MARC commuter train to DC) and $237 on Airtran via Atlanta to DCA. For nonstops, I see $292 on Continental to BWI and $377 to DCA. Southwest has lots of one-stops to Dulles for $219.

How do you travel to Labrador City, Canada from Washington,DC

How do you travel to Labrador City, Canada from Washington,DC?
I know there's tons of ways but I need the fastest or most affordable. I want to take my mother there for her birthday which is November. It's a cool place and it's a different place from what my friend tells me so I wish to know the steps besides taking a flight to Quebec or Toronto.

go to main, cross the river on a bridge then drive up into newfoundland and go to the city of you choice! By the way where is washington D.C
2 :

The cheapest fare is $190 total for one-way in virginamerica.com, you can't expect $99 anymore considered $4.79/gallon in LA
2 :
Beware of SPIRIT AIRLINES!!! They have hidden fees and their customer service is next to impossible to get through to. And if you do, they're n India and have very broken English. All you're allowed is one carry-on and you have to pay extra for any checked baggage. Plus, you can't even choose your seat without paying for that too. These are included with other airlines', which is why SPIRIT "appears" to be cheap. They also have the highest percentage of overbooked flights, delays, and the oldest planes (old ValuJets) in the industry.

See http://www.travelbargainsites.com for a list of cheap travel sites. One site compares all the airlines at once for the best fare.

Try Apple tours , we went to Dominican Republic last Sept . and stay in Punta Cana In SunScape the Beach it was wonderful , also try tripadvisor.com

The direct flight rules most islands out. The only ones would be: Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Nassau Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Aruba. Jamaica and Dominican Republic are islands where you don't want to leave your resort at night, and when you go shopping you get harassed in a very stress-inducing manner by desperate shop keepers all selling the same thing. This sounds mean, but it's the simple truth. However if this doesn't deter you both these islands have wonderful beaches and geography, great resorts and food (Jamaica has AWESOME locally grown coffee!!) and are the least expensive Carribean options. And all the locals who work at the resorts or who are not trying to sell you something are wonderful people. Very warm and friendly and touchingly proud of their culture. I love Jamaica, I just don't go out to the towns to shop much. Nassau is very Americanized, and becomes a madhouse at times due to it's giant Atlantis resort which is the #1 most travelled Carribean destination out of all resorts and all entire other islands. It's also flat -- no lush rainforest mountain goodness. As a travel agent, I have heard many cases of racism against American's from Puerto Ricans so I am reluctant to recommend going there. Though I'm sure this isn't too common. Puerto Rico is expensive though. And direct flights go into San Juan, which is away from the vacation resort areas. So expect a long drive to your resort once you land. (This is the same in Jamaica -- but the countryside is beautiful.) Aruba is a flat-ish desert island, but great beach, great food & night life and all island citizens get free full education from their government so there isn't much poverty and hence it's very safe (that Natalie Holloway thing is NOT representative of the goings on in this island) there are no desperate street and beach vendors begging you to buy their things. This might be a little bit pricier than the other islands unless you're very flexible with your dates -- then you can get just as good of a deal. (Tip, for a 5 night fly either Thurs to Tues or Wed to Mon for the best airfare). But a flight to Aruba will be closer to 4 hours. And for all these islands direct flights from any DC area airport do not go every day... usually only around two possibly three days a week.

Duh!! Jamaica Duh!
4 :
The problem with the 3 hour limit is you can't get far enough south to get into warm water in January. I've been to Jamaica and Grand Cayman then and the water was nippy for my taste. Plus I don't recommend Jamaica, they don't like Americans. 'nuf said. You have to go really far south to get nice warm beaches. Sorry. Think the U.S. Virgin Islands or lower.
5 :
Although it is a bit further than 3 hours from Washington DC, I would recommend Barbados, Mustique in St Vincent and the Grenadines or Tobago! Good luck and have a blast!
6 :
aruba or the dominican republic.
7 :
Curaçao is a very good option. The people are very friendly and you can be sure to have a good service there.
8 :
Puerto Rico fo course! Beautiful island, you will love it! Cuba and the Dominican Republic are also Beatiful places to travel.

Yes. But you better book soon because those trains could fill up. There are many trains between the two cities though, so most likely you wont have trouble getting a seat.

Considering Dulles is roughly 30 miles outside DC, there are tons and tons of places. It helps to know if you are staying in DC proper or in one of the suburbs, as that will make it easier to recommend a place between the airport and your hotel.
2 :
Once you get on the Dulles Toll Road, take the Reston Parkway exit (it's like 5 minutes) into Reston Town Center. There are tons and tons of restaurants, shops, etc. to fill your bellies.

Do airplanes (preferably San Diego, CA) have A/C adapter outlets?
I'm going to be going on a night flight to Washington DC on a Jet Blue San Diego plane. Do most planes have A/C Adapter outlets? And do most of these outlets work for portable DVD players? Thanks! :)

Below is a link to a web site that shows you all the seating configurations as well as where the outlets are for any flight. I use it before I make any seat reservations to ensure there is an outlet at my seat. Most planes have one only on every other row. Planes have a 12v outlet that looks like a car cigarette lighter beneath some seats. You need to buy an adapter to convert the power for your laptop, etc. Check SeatGuru.com and it will show you where everything is for your flight. On the left side on the page, click on the airline and then on the model of plane. A diagram will appear that shows you all kids of neat stuff like where the best seats are, where the bulkheads/bathrooms are, any problems reported by passengers, etc. Mouse over a seat on the diagram and it will give you deatails about the seat. From the web site: "A power port, usually located in the seat arm rest, enables you to plug in electronic devices such as laptops and portable DVD players while on the plane. If there is a power port location at your seat it will be noted by a black dot on the SeatGuru seating map; the Seat Map Key provides an illustration. The three widely used types of power ports are AC, Cigarette, and Empower. Both the Cigarette and Empower ports require special adapters which can be purchased from a number of retailers. If power ports are available on an aircraft there will be a laptop icon on that plane's web page on the SeatGuru site. If you click on the icon, detailed power information will appear." Update: I just looked up Jet Blue and they fly mostly AirBus. They do not have any outlets.
2 :
None have AC outlets. Some have 12-volt DC ports, but you have to have the right adaptor. There are some AC outlets in the airport terminals along the walls.
3 :
No outlets. You'll have to work on battery power.

I do not know, but if the people of Washington, DC are invited our local transportation could be between free (walk), price of a Metro Bus or maybe a metro train. Do not know what function you are going to, so I do not know if we would pay for the either. Many venue's are free. You left a lot of information out of your question. This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America. Please pick an answer as the best answer, even if it is not mine. Cannot help you with which airlines is better. Cannot tell where you are coming from. If from Israel, I suggest ElAl. Korea, I suggest Korean Air, Los Angeles, I suggest Southwest Airlines. Houston, I suggest Continental Airlines.
2 :
I'm a little confused: Why don't you contact the organization directly to find out the details?
3 :
What you seem to be describing could be an employment scam. An organization called People to People has been involved in scurrilous practices in the past. Be very cautious. Look this up on the internet before you commit. Typically when someone is "invited" it's free. Being required to pay $1,995 in advance doesn't sound like much of an invitation to me.

YOu go to Heathrow or Gatwick
2 :
London Luton Airport only does flights to Europe. You'd probably have to go to Heathrow. From there take the Underground to St Pancras (this is direct - no changes), and a train to Luton from there. Or you might get a flight to Gatwick, from where you get a train to Victoria, the Underground to St Pancras (again this is direct on the Victoria line) and a train to Luton. The way to research this is to look up the Washington DC airport web site, see from the timetables what airlines go to London, then use the web sites for those airlines to see what you can get. Go through the booking process then stop when you get quoted prices. The pricing model means it's usually cheapest to book 2 months before you go. Or try expedia, but always look on the airline's on web site once you find the best deal to see if they are selling the same flights cheaper. I've found that's true sometimes. Experiment. Fares can vary a lot between different days in the week and different times of day. The cheapest will always be the overnight "red-eye" - mind you, most east-west transatlantic flights go overnight. It ensures one-way traffic across the ocean and therefore safety - coming back they go during the day. Budget airlines don't do long flights like this - it will be about 8 hours. So it will have to be a full-service airline and you will get served 2 meals on the way - on an overnight flight, dinner and breakfast.
3 :
You can fly to Heathrow,Gatwick or Stansted airports. Gatwick is easiest as there is a direct frequent rail service from Gatwick to Luton. From Stansted you would need to take a bus to Luton or travel by train via London. From Heathrow you take the Underground (Subway) to Kings Cross St Pancras and then a train from St Pancras to Luton www.nationalrail.co.uk Cheap flights are really a thing of the past unless you are travelling during a very off peak period. Rising fuel prices and the losses sustained by major airlines have forced prices up. Consult a good local travel agent or go to the websites of the major transatlantic airlines like BA, American and United

You can fly from London-Heathrow to Chicago on American Airlines, United Airlines, British Airways, and seasonally Virgin Atlantic. The best is rarely the cheapest, you know. The fastest and easiest is to fly on Alaska from National to Seattle, and change there for Fairbanks. The cheapest appears to be a multi-hop flight from Dulles to Seattle to Anchorage on United and Continental, then a commuter flight to Fairbanks. Despite what the ads might say, all jet flights in the US are about equally uncomfortable and annoying. Commuter flights on propeller planes are somewhat louder and less comfortable, but not horribly so. You will definitely get a better fare if you don't wait until the last minute to buy your tickets.

If you can get a price of under $1,000 to travel in the summer, I would jump on it. I doubt the price will come down anymore. July is peak travel time so tickets are usually expensive.

you may try http://www.europeanvacation3.com for cheap flight tickets as it's search over 450 sites for price comparison and which would help to choose cheap flight tickets from those search result.
3 :
Hi, I read your response on another question about prices and I answered you on there. But just in case you don't look here it is again. ;o) We are stationed in Germany and I just bought my parents tickets to come out here in May. I looked on Kayak.com And North west by far was the cheapest. On Kayak.com though you actually have to go to the NWA website to book your flight. But they search different airlines. I was able to get two tickets for $964 total. Which is $482 each. We were really wanting them to come in June or July but since the prices doubled in June we just couldn't do that and still be able to travel around Europe for 2 weeks. So we chose May. Yep I just searched on www.nwa.com and from Washington DC to Frankfurt(wasn't sure just guessed) they were 700 something. But in May they were like $515. But check Kayak.com they were by far the cheapest I found. Good luck and have a Great time! Oh one more thing. I don't know where you are going in Germany but you might try surrounding countries that are close to your destination ( if any) We checked in Luxembourg and Belguim. Sometimes they are cheaper of course it just depends on where you are wanting to go. It would have been fine for us because all three places are around the same distance for us to drive to get them. ANyway, I just thought I would throw that out there for you as another option. I checked several different cities in Germany and Frankfurt, Stuttgart, and one other one were all around $730 in July.. But Dresden and other places were over $1200 per ticket. Sorry for the novel. Hope this helps though! EDIT One more thing. The reason I like kayak.com is that they show a calendar that says the lowest rates for that month.

Washington DC question

Washington DC question?
I am planning a trip to DC this summer , on all the travel sites i go to it has my flight coming into Baltimore instead of Washington DC. Are there really cabs that take you from Baltimore to DC? How much does that cost?

The airport is actually Marshall Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) and is located about half-way between the two cities. Many folks coming to Washington, DC fly into BWI, particularly because it has many discount flights. To get from BWI into DC you have several options. Unless you're on an expense account, I would not use a cab, which will be quite expensive. Instead, I'd take the free shuttle bus from the airport to the BWI train station, from where you can take either Amtrak or the MARC commuter train into Washington Union Station, in downtown DC. From there, you can more cheaply take a cab to your hotel, or if your hotel is near a Metro station, you can take the Metro subway. There are other ways of doing it, including a bus that will connect you from the airport to the Metro subway system, but the Amtrak or MARC connection is the most popular.
